Hi guys, wonder if any of you can answer this for me..

I run a carpet cleaning business,and so have started getting to grips with a ppc campaign, with goggle.

I have a number of keywords, such as carpet cleaner

now lets say I have picked a number of geographic locations for the campaign, lets say for san diego county..

Do I have to list the key words, for each geographic location..

ie

carpet cleaner lemon grove
carpet cleaner Chuls Vista
carpet cleaner spring valley..etc etc

even if I have selected those areas as campaign locations.

And if I do, should I then set it up as follows

campaigns carpet cleaning

add group lemon grove
Chulas Vista
spring valley

Campaign upholstery cleaning

add group lemon grove
Chulas Vista
spring valley

Campaign hard surface cleaning etc etc

What way is the best, to keep costs low, to get more clicks and maximum conversions??

Hi

If you are a local business its not good to have carpet cleaner as its too general. When you choosing carpet cleaner as keyword it does show all the combination like:

carpet cleaner lemon grove
carpet cleaner Chuls Vista
carpet cleaner spring valley

However its always better to have longtail keywords.

I’ve had a definition of ‘inventory’, but I can’t distinguish ‘inventory’ from zones or spaces on web page. Does it not mean a simple space to put ads? Why need to calculate it?
I’ve had this definition:
"Inventory: This term refers to the amount of ad space available on a website. To calculate an accurate inventory figure the number of possible page impressions in a certain timeframe should be taken into account, as well as the number of zones available for ads to be shown per page".

It refers to advertising opportunity that is available in a particular media group database. Example company A has an inventory of 200,000 e-mail addresses ready for an advertiser to send information to or advertise to. Company B will have to pay for the inventory to access the 200,000 e-mail addresses.

I know that nobody LIKES advertising. I agree that the advertising out there sucks and is annoying. So… That’s my question.

Assuming that we aren’t going to pay for all the web sites we use, how could online advertising be changed to be a better experience for users AND more valuable for advertisers so they want to buy it?

The buyers online use phrases called keywords to search for an item. Thus the advertising that works for both the consumer and the advertiser is the one based on a good keyword research.

An advertising company wants to determine if the cartoons series Voltes V, appeals to male viewers more than to female viewers. Based on random telephone interviews,it was found that 23 out of 48 males and 41 out of 90 females watch the series regularly. What should the advertising company conclude at the 5% level of significance?

For this problem we will use the Chi-squared distribution.

We would expent the percentages to be equal ie 0.4637 each, thus we would expect 22.26 males and 41.74 females to watch the program, we use this to calculate the Test statistic D^2

D^2 = SUM((Expected – observed)^2 / Expected)
= (22.26 – 23)^2/22.26 + (41.74 – 41)^2/41.74
=0.0246 + 0.0131
=0.0377

The Chi-Squared value for 1 degree of freedom at the 5% significance level is 3.841, thus 0.0377 is not larger than 3.841, thus we can conclude that gender has no effect on the viewership.

Other than Adbrite, Google Adsense, and Bidvertiser, does anyone know any other advertising agencies that pay a reasonable amount per click (not one cent please..)

Try this:

Create a billboard web site – a website that describes your services and products and allows buyers to buy on line.

If you’re only after local business, Google offers a lot of local search options. Just add your address to the keywords.

You can build a good-looking website using templates. Just add copy. Add a free checkout like osCommerce, open a Paypal account and start hyping the website through traditional marketing outlets.

For example, use the classifieds in the local newspaper with nothing but your URL. It piques curiosity. Once the visitor is on site, that’s where the sale is made.

Put your URL on all stationery and other paper associated with the business.

Use local cable to advertise your business and URL. True, you can get 100 30 second spots on a rotating schedule at $5 a spot. You can even pick the channels where the adverts will appear.

And make sure your site’s URL appears in text on screen throughout the spot.

Volunteer to write a column for the local newspaper. These outlets are dying for content. You might even get paid.
